              Nails


I’m trying not to bite my nails:

I’m trying oh so very hard.

I do not want to, for I know

It’s vile and disgusting, so

I’m trying oh so very hard—

I’m trying not to bite my nails.

I need to find a better way—

A different pastime I may try.

I need to try out something new

So that my fingers I’ll not chew.

This poem is the reason why

My nails are not as short today.
