Don't make promises you can't keep. It will get sent off into seeming-oblivion, and you'll think you won't have to worry about it, until it boomerang's around and knocks out like all of your teeth. And then you've got a big fat promise you made, no way of keeping it, and no teeth: thus, no way of explaining that you can't keep your promise. All you can really do is flap your tongue around and get used to people making disgusted faces at you.
